The Stellar Gospel Music Awards All-Star Weekend
The 33rd Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards this past weekend was nothing short of amazing, with a host of nominees, winners, and honorees sharing the red carpet and the main stage.
Dubbed as an ‘epic night in gospel music’, this year the award show was hosted by Kirk Franklin at the beautiful Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show opened up with the debut reunion of Mary Mary’s Erica Campbell and Tina Campbell sharing the stage for the first time publicly in more than six years. Other all star performances by Travis Greene, Ricky Dillard & New G, Tasha Cobbs-Leonard, Anthony Brown & Group Therapy, Le’Andria Johnson, Keke Wyatt, Jonathan McReynolds and more. Rapper Snoop Dogg also made his gospel debut with a performance of his #1 Billboard Gospel Album “Bible of Love”. He performed his track “Words Are Few” with B-Slade.
The biggest winner of the night was JJ Hairston with 6 Stellar Awards. Tasha Cobbs and Travis Greene both took home 4 Stellar Awards, and Anthony Brown wins 2 Stellar Awards.
Central City Productions’, Don Jackson presented special honors to Tamela Mann, Rev. Milton Biggham, and Hall of Fame inductees included Kurt Carr, Ben Tankard, Dr. Marabeth Gentry, who is the President of the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses.
The Stellar Gospel Music Awards also gave tributes to the late Edwin Hawkins, with his sister Lynette Hawkins accepting the Edwin Hawkins Icon Award in his honor.
The Stellar Gospel Music Awards is scheduled to premiere nationally on Friday, March 30 at 9:00 pm ET/8:00 pm CT on TV One.
