When you're going through a tough time and need to rebuild your spiritual checkpoint, here are some ways to protect yourself after being open spiritually.
Make sure you have a support system.
Is there a church community where you feel comfortable sharing ideas with others who are also seeking answers (or perhaps some guidance) from God? Are there people close by who have similar beliefs as yours or ones that differ from yours but still encourage open discussion about faith issues like prayer and scripture study groups or Sunday school classes taught by lay leaders at local churches where everyone can learn from each other regardless of age level experience level education level etc..
Stay away from people who don't have your best interest at heart. Don't let others distract you from your priorities. It IS possible to have friendships with people who don't share every belief or value -- but they are also not going to become part of your primary spiritual community.
Be very careful about what you read and watch on TV and the Internet. Get rid of any books or items that may be associated with a negative belief system or religion that you no longer believe in. Detox from social media. Schedule time each day or week where you can focus on doing something that's important to your spiritual life. This could include praying, reading the Bible or other religious texts, meditating or even just thinking about what it means for you personally as an individual who has been created by God.
Take time out of each day or week so that you can rebuild your spiritual checkpoint so that you know where you are heading on life's journey!
